Alisa Newey is a designer and creator of beautiful things. Alisa started her design journey in architecture in 2004 and graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Design Studies (Architecture) in 2008. After working for several years in Architecture, Alisa spend a year living and working in London and discovered a love for unique, quirky vintage finds which was to continue long after her move back home to Brisbane.
In 2011 Alisa launched Ties & Whimsy her first collection of fashion accessories made from discarded men's ties. While continuing to design her Ties & Whimsy collection Alisa returned to study to complete her Masters. She graduated from Queensland College or Arts in 2012 with a Masters in Visual Arts focusing on sustainable furniture design. Alisa launch her first furniture collection 'Emerge' at Design Made Trade in July 2012, Emerge will also be exhibited at 'The Edge' in 2013.
Alisa enjoys drawing inspiration from discarded and waste materials to design beautiful one of a kind pieces.
